Novocomum

Como,

Via Giuseppe Senigaglia 1

The Novocomum is a multi-storey apartment building in Como. Built from 1928 to 1929 to a design by Giuseppe Terragni, it represents one of the earliest examples of modern architecture in Italy.
It takes its name from the real estate company Novocomum of Olgiate Comasco, which realised the building.
The five-storey building above ground is constructed in the form of an inverted ‘C’. The load-bearing structure has reinforced concrete pillars and is symmetrical: there are three staircase bodies, a central one at the entrance, and two in the corners, where their presence is highlighted by cylindrical bodies made entirely of glass.
