P.za del Popolo 2

The former Casa del Fascio or Palazzo Terragni is a building located in Piazza del Popolo in Como and is the work of the rationalist architect Giuseppe Terragni (1904-1943). Inaugurated in 1936, the building was used as the headquarters of the National Fascist Party until 1945, when the city of Como was liberated from the fascist regime.
Later, the building was used by the parties of the National Liberation Committee. Since 1957, it has been the headquarters of the VI Legion of the Guardia di Finanza.
Palazzo Terragni is considered one of the masterpieces of Italian rationalism. The four-storey building has a square shape. The façade is clad in marble and features concrete pillars and large glazed openings. The interior, with black and yellow marble cladding and large glass surfaces, has a large double-height hall in the centre, which is overlooked by the first floor balcony.
