Como’s Teatro Sociale, among the oldest and most impressive in northern Italy, is an important cultural and educational centre located in the heart of the walled city. It was inaugurated the evening of August 28th 1813, when the curtain rose for the first time on the musical drama “Adriano in Siria” by Antonio Fonseca Portugal and “I Pretendenti delusi” by Giuseppe Mosca.
Many great performers, virtuosos and conductors, including Niccolò Paganini, Franz Liszt and Giuditta Pasta, have performed in Como over the years.
Managed by AsLiCo since 2001, the theatre today offers a wide range of performances including opera, drama, music, dance and events for all ages.
