The Municipal Library of Como is the largest and oldest in the province, its original nucleus dating back to the second half of the 17th century, and it is today the leading collection of the Intermunicipal Library System of Como. There are more than 400,000 books, both ancient and modern, to which must be added all the manuscripts, graphic works, newspapers, posters, archival documents, periodicals and multimedia documents. Open to the public, the library is free and offers spaces and services to meet the needs of citizens of all ages.
In 2018 the City Council decided to name the Library after Dr. Paolo Borsellino, the victim of a mafia assassination on July 19th 1992 in Palermo. A dedication ceremony was held on April 8th 2019 in the presence of his daughter Fiammetta Borsellino.
