Il Museo della Seta racconta la tradizione culturale e imprenditoriale della seta comasca. Thanks to the exhibition of machinery, looms and fabrics, an evocative history that has strongly marked the life of this area is told.
The Museum began to take shape in 1985 on the initiative of the Classe ‘27 with the collaboration of the Ex Allievi del Setificio, two Como associations that were deeply committed to the recovery of artefacts from the silk textile factories in the city of Como.
In 1990, the Educational Silk Museum was opened to the public, a place of historical memory of the Como silk industry.
Today, the museum’s more than one thousand square metres are the venue for textile-related exhibitions and cultural events open to the public, schools and universities.
